What to do during the flood
- Be aware of flash floods. Identify a safe area to move until the storm has passed.
- Listen to radio or television stations for local information.
- Be aware of drainage channels and other areas known to flood suddenly, as flash floods can occur in these areas with little warning signs.
- If local authorities issue a flood watch, prepare to evacuate to safe locations
- Secure your home.
- Move essential items to the upper levels.
- Shut off water and electricity at their main switches
- Fill clean containers with water in case water becomes contaminated or services cut off.
- Do not walk-through moving water.
- Do not drive into flooded areas
- If you or your child experiences any forms of violence, abuse, and exploitation, whether by other family members, caregivers, strangers or neighbor, CALL Childline on 116 or Musasa on 08080074 or Ministry of Health and Child Care 2019 hotline or 393 Youth Helpline or seek assistance from a local Police Station Victim Friendly Unit or Village Health Worker or Community Childcare workers
